Dr. Katharina Scherer and Laura Weber attended the 35th Focus on Microscopy (FOM) conference in beautiful Porto, Portugal in early April. Katharina presented a talk on her research about defects in herpesvirus replication from her postdoc at the University of Cambridge. At the poster session, Laura presented the project of her PhD in the RG Endesfelder on modeling single molecule experiments for AI-based automation.
The FOM conference series is the largest international meeting on recent advances in high-resolution optical microscopy. There, developers and users come together to exchange ideas and learn about commercial solutions from a very large number of manufacturers at a technical exhibition.
After the conference had to be cancelled or held online for three years due to the Corona pandemic, the joy of seeing old friends and cooperation partners again was great. By the way, next year, FOM 2024 will be held in Genoa, Italy.
