The Sweethoven Biotech team had the pleasure of welcoming Ye-One Rhie, member of the german parliament and member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment, to the IFMB yesterday. Ms. Rhie showed great interest in the third-party funded project of Dr. Marcel Hövels and Dr. André Neff, which is financed by the BMBF as part of the "DATIpilot Innovation Sprint" funding initiative.

During her visit, Ms. Rhie learned all about the aims and content of the project, which is focusing on the sustainable production of healthy sugar alternatives. In a very pleasant exchange, the member of the parliament gained a deeper understanding of the innovative strength and social benefits of the research carried out by "Sweethoven Biotech". The strengths and potential of the "DATIpilot" funding program, as well as possible challenges and optimization approaches, were discussed together.

Ms. Rhie did not miss the opportunity to try the prototype of the sweet dietary fibre from Sweethoven Biotech and was impressed by the pleasant sweetness and natural taste of the healthy sugar alternative.

Ms. Rhie's visit was a valuable opportunity to bring the importance of applied research closer to a political decision-maker and at the same time to provide constructive feedback for the future design of funding programs. We would like to thank Ms. Rhie for her visit and the interesting discussions.
